Prof. Temenuzhka Yovcheva, PhD is the new Deputy-Rector of the University of Plovdiv, in charge of the R&D and Publishing Activities of the University of Plovdiv.
Prof. T. Yovcheva, PhD is also the Head of one of the PERIMED Laboratories: Biopolymers & New Materials Lab
Prof. T. Yovcheva, PhD was invited to “Give-a-go!” of the modernization of the building on 21 Kostaki Peev Street, where new labs and lab equipment shall be installed to complete the PERIMED Project tasks.
Prof. Iliya Iliev, PhD is the Director of the Centre of Technologies of the University of Plovdiv.

I wish a success to the reconstruction process, as well as to the new labs!
Prof. Iliya Iliev, Director of the Centre of Technologies of the University of Plovdiv:
It is the first time in Bulgaria to do such a project, which unites two main directions: use of new medicines – based on the principle of personalized medicine, and creation of such medicines, with assistance of biotechnological processes.
Here will be stationed 5 of the 12 Labs of the Center and will be primarily active in the biotechnological part of the Project.
The building must be reconstructed on Level-1, Level-2, Level-4, and Level-5 completely; and there will be external re-organization. There shall be installed an external elevator, in order to comply to all requirements of the Law and there shell be built an additional Entrance/Foyer of the building, which is deemed to be used as an Official Hallway for representative events, which will take part in the building.

It is an honor and pride that the University of Plovdiv participate in this unique Project – Centre of Competency – PERIMED. And having participating in this Project, we shall have these unique Labs – reconstructed and having been equipped with much new apparati, where much of them will be really unique for Plovdiv. And, I hope that with united efforts we will achieve the success.

This is one of the very ambitious National Projects – Center of Competency on Personalized Innovative Medicine, or abbreviated PERIMED.
The Project is unique, because it recruits resources from 3 organizations.
The leading organization is the Medical University of Plovdiv. The others are – as you have heard – the University of Plovdiv and the Institute of Mineralogy and Crystallography of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
This Project is focused on defining the biomarkers, biological markers in the field of oncology, which shall assist in precise or target therapies on these diseases.
Next to the researchers, who work in the field of oncology, there will be such researchers, who will work in the Project in the field of hematologic malignant diseases; there are immunology researchers, as well as genetics researchers; a part of the researches will be conducted by the Medical University of Plovdiv.
And, today we are here to support our Partners from the University of Plovdiv in this critical activity – construction and building modernization. Due to the reason that the Project is both infrastructural, and R&D one, it is deemed that there is a physical building of structures, where R&D activities shall be conducted.
May be, it is not by accident the fact that exactly on this day – July 1st, it is done this “First Sod” in relation to construction and building modernization in the University of Plovdiv.
You know, July 1st, or “July Morning”, is a symbol of the beginning of the Summer; it is a symbol of a new beginning, and that is why, we hope today that we lay the foundations of a new beginning, which shall be a serious base for the further activities in the Project.
This Project is not only to the University of Plovdiv, but it is for all of us. All these activities are joint for all us, and support one another. And we are very happy that things go well for the time being.
